A Wee Journey is a choreographed musical journey of immigration - following those who have made the journey to Scotland. The musical expression and choreography will be woven together to reflect the physical and emotional states that accompany the transition from an unstable environment to a more solid life hoped for in Scotland.
Farah and Oğuz are inviting applications from Scottish based professional dancers and movers from refugee and migrant backgrounds for an initial period of research and development for their new collaboration. For us, this includes anyone who has been forced to or has chosen to leave home for political, economic, or social reasons and travelled to Scotland.
Both Farah and Oğuz have lived experience of refugeehood and migration and are keen to hear from artists who are open to working collaboratively and are interested in sharing their own experiences through movement, improvisation and exploration. This can be across styles including but not limited to contemporary, hip hop, folk.
Following this week of R&D, we will be seeking funding to develop the full work in 2022.
This R&D is being funded by the Edinburgh International Festival.
To Apply: Please email a paragraph outlining why you are interested in joining the project, and a CV by
Monday 26 April.
Information should be emailed to Producer, Helen McIntosh on email@example.com, with email subject “A Wee Journey”. If you have any questions, around access support, the audition workshop or the overall project, please do get in contact with us on the above email address.
We will be in touch with all applicants by Friday 30 April. No feedback will be offered at this stage.
