The World We Share (2023)
Workshop Audition for Research & Development
Choreographer, Farah Saleh is seeking two dancers, movers and/or circus artists (aged 20-40) to take part in a period of research and development for her new work for young audiences, The World We Share.

Fee: £700, plus travel if based outside Edinburgh
The World We Share is a new multi-generational, participatory
performance for young audiences, performed by an ensemble
of two young performers aged between 8-10, two professional
artists aged 20-40 and one mature dancer aged 60+.

The performance will tackle the theme of a ‘diverse society’ by exploring - with young audiences - the complex constellations of people and lived experiences – such as differing ethnic backgrounds; age, ancestry, generation; disability; and gender identity – that make up our communities and the world we share. Farah is collaborating on this initial research stage of the project with dramaturg Luke Pell and creative producer Helen McIntosh.
The team are keen to hear from artists who are open to working collaboratively within a multi-generational cast and are interested in sharing their own experiences through movement, improvisation and exploration. This can be across styles including, but not limited to, breakdance circus and contemporary. Selected artistis will then be invited to attend the workshop audition.
In the workshop audition we will bring together professional dancers, movers and/or circus artists along with invited mature dancers. The workshop audition for young dancers will take place seperatley at Lyra. The full team will then be invited to take part in a paid week of R&D in October.
Following this week of R&D, we will be seeking funding to develop the full work in 2024.
This R&D is being funded by Creative Scotland, supported by Imaginate and is in partnership with Lyra and Dance Base.
